So if you give it throttle it revs to 3000rpm before the wheels start to move?
Is this in high or low range?

I can make it inch along at 1350 rpm with the 450lb blower on the front. In low range it tachs 18-1900 and high range 22-2300 just to barely start the tires rolling. 3000 to make it run about 7mph in low and 12-13 mph in high. Is this normal? With a 5x8 trailer with a load of wood throwed in it in low, I've got to get above 3K rpm to make it move.
On mine, the fluid is half way up the sight glass when cold on level ground. It goes to the top of the glass when hot. The only time the glass has been empty is when it was cold and needed fluid added.Hello all. Could someone tell me what their Brutus shows on the tach how many RPM's in both high and low range before you start to move. Im still having trouble and nobody in my area knows how they operate. I've had the pintle lever replaced and they don't know if they even did it correctly. I have to run at minimum 3000rpm to move. I don't understand the fluid reservoir either. There are times when ignition is off and level is good' and I have seen times when brutus is running, the level is high and other times the sight glass is completely empty. Air in the system? Any ideas or comments. I believe I'm having some kind of hydro problem. Just trying to pinpoint it before I go back to the dealer an hour away again. Thanks!!
One more thing you could try is to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic system. From the manual "Loosen the fill / breather cap to relieve hydraulic system pressure." Do this while it is cold. No idea if this will help or not but just a thought.Hello all. Could someone tell me what their Brutus shows on the tach how many RPM's in both high and low range before you start to move. When u get time, run your machine on level ground at 2500 rpm. Tell me what the speed is. I would say I would get to 3-5 mph, but it would take me 50 yds to get to that speed. It just feels like there is a brake stuck.. it just won't take off unless its wide open.I can make it inch along at 1350 rpm with the 450lb blower on the front.
I can hit 30 in high on level ground w/o an attachment on.
I will check that out tonightOne more thing you could try is to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic system. From the manual "Loosen the fill / breather cap to relieve hydraulic system pressure." Do this while it is cold. No idea if this will help or not but just a thought.

Tried things out. 2230rpm in high to start moving. Top speed -slightly downhill [email protected]. [email protected] to run down fairly steep blacktop road.I have to run this rpm to go down hill at 14mph. Top speed up the same hill is 09mph in H and 11mph in L. At 3450rpm on level road it runs 14mph. From the 3450-3700 is where it comes alive from 14 to 26 mph. 1830rpm in L to make machine move. Does anyones Brutus "CRUISE" at 2K to 2500 rpm 10-15 mph? That's one of my biggest faults that its so loud because of running wide open to run 15mph at 3400. Everyone think I need to take back for a retune? Added 8-10oz of fluid to top off. No pressure in reservoir.I can make it inch along at 1350 rpm with the 450lb blower on the front.

I tested last night. 2500 rpm gets me to about 7 - 8 mph. The machine was warmed up however it was -4F and there was a bit of snow of the ground. May have made a slight difference but not by much.Tried things out. 2230rpm in high to start moving. Top speed -slightly downhill [email protected]. Already contacted them this afternoon. They don't have a clue what to do, or to compare it to. They were going to contact technical again. Hopefully they will get someone that knows the machine. My concerns are what are the long term effects on the pump, the transmission and the engine, since its been running wide open for 5hrs. I will keep u all updated when we figure something out.well BrutusWV it doesnt seem like your results match mskibos.
At around 2500 rpm he was already moving 7-8mph. I'd def take it back to the dealer.
I'd be surprised if they don't, but either way they should have a way to diagnose the issue. Hopefully something will happen.they dont have another brutus at the dealership to compare it?
They are suppose to be doing a comparison today. All they have is a HD PTO. I told them that shouldn't matter for the normal running of the machine. Hopefully they will call me tonight with an answer.they dont have another brutus at the dealership to compare it?
good tip on the low gear setting, this is usually something overlooked. it goes for a lot of things, even cars. lower gear, more torque, makes sense.its the hydrostatic transmission. Top speed is 30mph, theres really not much to be done in terms of speed. Idle speeds are so low so you can operate the attachments at low speed without using the brakes constantly.
also when going up an incline try low gear, you might get a little more punch.
